Time to Get Working!

I think I need to wrap my mind on this- it's time to really move forward on this project. There is ten weeks left of school, and I am not going to go up onto that TED talk stage with only an imaginary jet pack. I need to get working so I can actually complete this project and have fun with it. Also, once I am finished, I am going to post some videos that show the pack in action. But my main goal is to in the next couple of weeks get on with the project!

The TriFold

This is a picture of the trifold I made for Idea Showcase. I had to make it out of a cardboard box, so it is really short.

Idea Showcase

Today was Idea Showcase, and it was really fun! I made a trifold and covered it with descriptions and images of my project. I talked for a long time about my project, and had an interview with my teacher about my progress and the next steps I need to take. I am trying to figure out how to attach all of the pieces together. I am thinking maybe melding, but I don't want to ruin anything. It has to be strong enough to withstand five gallons of pressure, which is a lot. I think that I will have to experiment with the different ways to get them together and find the one that works the best.

Preparing for Idea Showcase

Hi! I am going to begin preparing for Idea Showcase, which is an event where every seventh-grader takes their idea and tells their story on a huge display. I am going to need a cardboard trifold, and then I will be able to put pictures, stories, and a bunch of other things on there. I will post a picture on this blog when it is complete! In the meantime, however, the Tinkercad design is difficult. I don't want to print something only to find out that it is be the wrong size, so I need to take very precise measurements of the water jug and of the exhaust bell, once that is complete.

The Exhaust Bell

Hey there! Since I still am working on the Tinkercad design, I have decided to work on making the exhaust bell at home. I want it to be strong enough to withstand the force of the compressed air and water. What material will work best? If you have any suggestions, please comment about it. Also, I have a aquired a skateboard that will work for the test drive. I am getting excited about finishing the jet pack! It will really be a fun thing to own once it is complete.
